Sohan was sitting guard, watching her sleep. Her tiny chest puffed and pillowed rapidly under a tightly wrapped cloth. The hut was getting hot in the mid-day sun and she was glistening. The cloth was mom’s wedding chuni so the light mesh let air in.
Sohan shifted from crosslegged to on his knees and prowled towards her, his knees on the straw of their sleeping perch. She came close to her and put his fingers on her lips. She squirmed and shifted, but started sleep.
